The former head of the State Civil Aviation Administration and godfather of ex-Democratic Party leader Sergiu Sârbu, Valentin Vizant, has lost his first-instance lawsuit against the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The ruling, delivered on April 30, may still be appealed. Vizant disputes the authorities' decision to revoke his honorary consul title of the Republic of Moldova in Kazakhstan and to dissolve the Consular Office in that country. His name appears in an investigative report by the Center for Investigative Journalism, in which he is identified as a business associate of Silvia Radu—both were previously under investigation for alleged money laundering.

In August 2022, law enforcement officers carried out searches at Vizant’s residence. He later stated that no prosecutor or law enforcement official had contacted him. Vizant also claimed that the searches were conducted without justification and that there had never been any complaints regarding the companies he had managed over the years. On the other hand, prosecutor Vadim Prisacari clarified for Anticoruptie.md that the criminal investigation was ongoing, and that Vizant was expected at the prosecutor’s office to be formally informed of his suspect status, with charges to follow.

Valentin Vizant confirmed in a social media post that he had received the summons and claimed that prosecutor Vadim Prisacari owned 200 agricultural plots.

In response, prosecutor Prisacari said that Vizant and some media outlets were spreading inaccurate information.

“Various media sources incorrectly reported that I own around 200 agricultural plots and published the news without checking official databases (e.g., the Cadastre) or requesting my position or a reply. I believe the error stems from a mechanical mistake in the asset declaration, where plots from earlier declarations were duplicated or even tripled—the same land parcels with identical cadastral numbers were listed more than once. In fact, it's just one plot,” the prosecutor explained for Anticoruptie.md.

In 2023, Valentin Vizant filed a lawsuit against the Government of the Republic of Moldova, seeking compensation for material and moral damages, as well as legal costs. His claim is based on the August 4, 2020 ruling of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), which condemned the exclusion of the Patria Political Party from the 2014 election campaign. In addition to material damages of 1.7 million lei—his donations confiscated by authorities—Vivant also requested 500,000 lei in moral damages.

From 2001 to 2005, Valentin Vizant served as secretary of the Central Electoral Commission, and from 2005 to 2008, as director of the State Civil Aviation Administration. Later, he served as director of the State Enterprise “Poșta Moldovei”. In 2014, Vizant was fifth on the electoral list of the Patria Party, with which politician Renato Usatîi entered the parliamentary race for the November 30 elections.
