Ukraine is concentrating its military forces along the border with the Republic of Moldova, specifically on the Transnistrian segment, to prevent a possible attack by Russian forces deployed in the separatist region that is not controlled by Chisinau. This information was confirmed by Natalia Gumeniuk, the head of the press center of the Southern Ukrainian Defense Forces.

Gumeniuk told the Ukrainian publication unian.ua that an "adequate" number of troops had been deployed along the Transnistrian border, and that soldiers are prepared to give a strong response in the event of any attempt to penetrate the neighboring country's territory.

Natalia Gumeniuk also stated that military risks originating from Belarus and the internationally unrecognized Transnistrian region are currently being analyzed. This is why the Ukrainian armed forces have concentrated their positions in these regions.

"From a military standpoint, we can consider the threats from the Belarusian and Transnistrian direction, but how real are they? They are rather hypothetical threats, meaning they are possible under a given set of circumstances but unlikely to materialize. To open the front, they need additional support, but they have nowhere to get it," Gumeniuk noted.

The official claims that Russia's attempts to carry out a landing in Transnistria are impossible a priori. "To do so, they would have to cross the airspace of a NATO country or Ukraine. But who would allow them to do that?" added Natalia Gumeniuk.

Last week, the Russian Ministry of Defense accused Ukraine of planning a possible attack on Russian troops stationed in the territory of Transnistria. In response, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that he would not intervene on the territory of the Republic of Moldova.
