The Center for Investigative Journalism invites, on January 19, journalists and experts from different fields to the first meeting this year of the Club of Investigative Journalists. The topic of the discussions will be "Gender balance in the media". The press club will be held online, with the presence of several experts from different fields, but also with representatives of partner media organizations from Ukraine, Georgia, and Armenia and from the International Media Support organization from Denmark. A database of women experts in various fields from the Republic of Moldova, Ukraine, Georgia, and Armenia will be launched within the Club.
The database is made to facilitate journalists' contact with female experts so that there is a balance in presence of both men and women in the media. The database with female experts was developed within the Women Investigative Journalism Network (WIJN) from the Eastern Partnership countries, with the support of International Media Support from Denmark, and includes over 100 female experts from four countries: the Republic of Moldova, Ukraine, Georgia, and Armenia. Colleagues from Ukraine, Georgia, Armenia, and experts from IMS will participate in the club discussions.
The draft of a gender policy for newsrooms and media NGOs, developed within WIJN and adapted to the legislation of the Republic of Moldova, will also be launched within the Press Club.
Also, in the press club, we will discuss the gender issue in the press from the Republic of Moldova and in WIJN member countries.
Another aspect of the discussions concerns the attacks on women journalists and the legal assistance provided in 2022 by the Center for Journalistic Investigations.
The Investigative Journalists Club will start at 2:30 p.m. and will last 1.5 – 2.0 hours. The discussions will be held in Romanian and English. Translation from Romanian to English and vice versa will be provided.
Those wishing to participate in the discussions please send us your contact details at [email protected] or [email protected], so that we can send you the login link.
The press club will also be broadcast online on the Facebook platforms of the Center for Investigative Journalism.
