More than 2.5 million lei and 50,000 euros were recovered today during the searches of the "couriers" of the "Şor" party in the case regarding the party's illegal financing by an organized criminal group. The money was intended to pay for the transportation and remuneration of people participating in protest actions organized by the party.

According to the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (PA), the institution, together with the National Anti-Corruption Center and the Information and Security Service, conducted several searches in the cars of individuals responsible for receiving and transporting illegal money to the presidents and vice-presidents of the party's territorial offices. During the searches, several bags and envelopes containing money were found, amounting to over 2,500,000 lei and 50,000 euros, as well as lists with the contact details of those who were to receive the money.

Following the operation, three individuals involved in receiving and transporting the money were detained. One of them had already been arrested in February 2023 for the same offense. Subsequently, the Chisinau Court (Ciocana headquarters) applied an alternative preventive measure to arrest, which was provisional release under judicial control.

During the searches conducted in the autumn of 2022, the PA seized over 4.5 million lei and 4,000 US dollars, money intended to pay people who participated in the protests, as well as transportation and salaries in envelopes for party members.
