Former Anticorruption Prosecutor, Roman Statnîi, Was Detained in Viorel Morari’s Case
The General Prosecutor’s Office confirmed the detention of the former anti-corruption prosecutor Roman Statnîi, a former subordinate of the suspended head of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office, Viorel Morari. He was detained by prosecutors after being recognized and heard as a suspect in excess of power, forgery in public acts, illegal detention or arrest, and prosecuting an innocent person.
According to the prosecutors, all these actions were committed against the co-owners of the VENTO gas station network, Igor and Adrian Borș, to whom, Statnîi in co-participation with Viorel Morari, two police officers, and others would have falsified a criminal case.
Roman Statnîi also appears in a case in which he is accused of fraud in large proportions and excess of power, committed in the interest of an organized criminal group – actions that would have led to the dispossession of a Russian citizen’s goods and money, worth over 1.8 million euros.
